This is Other Brother Coon Cat (OBCC).
I’d like to say he’s my biggest fan, but some days he acts like a king reminding his serf who’s boss.
It’s one thing to have a cat on your desk, another to have a cat take over your desk.
This is said desk:
Not that I wanted to get a new desk: The old one was being held together by duct tape and prayer.
This is how the new desk looks with a 20 pound (1.43 stone) coon cat on top of it:
You’ve probably noticed the towel over my new desk.
Can you guess the first thing he tried to do once the new desk was assembled?
Had we not slathered cardboard around the edges, he would have redesigned them with his claws.
OBCC wants to lay down on anything in which I show an interest. That black case he’s using as a pillow is my work folder.
This picture looks innocent enough. Right?
I had to retrieve — off the floor– my work folder, a brown carry case, the tissue box, and the items under it.
That box, full of stuff with the ruler sticking out of it, is still on the desk for only one reason: It’s too heavy for him to shove with one foot.
When I’m working, this is where you’ll usually find OBCC:
In this picture he’s on my old desk; his tail draping across my keyboard. I’m trying to keep his foot off it, too, or he’ll whap the keys with it.
With that one “talented” foot he has, in the past, shut down my computer, deleted manuscripts, and filled the screen with pop-up windows.
You may be wondering, “How does she endure it?”
How can you not fall in love with that face?
He’s purrfect, purrsistent, and has more purrsonality than anyone I know.
He purrs pretty, too.
So true!
Somehow, cats always get us to change for them, not the other way around. They’re so easy to fall in love with. 🙂
What a beautiful cat! We’ve had two Maine Coons and they really are adorable characters. I miss them so much. How lovely to have your boy with you as you work (even thought it can be a challenge at times).
I’ll be typing and suddenly this head is holding my hand down — the one with the mouse. He looks up at me with those beautiful eyes, and I’m reaching for his cat treats without thinking. 🙂
I had the same issues with Quinn! Ally would sit demurely to one side but Quinn . . . a Maine Coon trait?
It’s their larger size that can be overwhelming at times. When his brother was younger (around 1 or 2, he jumped from my desk over to my bed and onto my ribs. It was about 6 feet away and he cracked a rib. All he wanted to do was lie down on me. 🙂
We tolerate them, and they tolerate us. Symbiosis.
I like making my kitties happy. They like tormenting the human. There seems to be a bit of an imbalance. Then again, they’re cute and purry. I’m not, so I’m at a disadvantage. 🙂
My cat’s favorite trick is to put the computer in airplane mode
When they do things like that, it makes me want to ask if there’s a computer god somewhere, I violated one of his (c)laws, and cats are his minions. 🙂
🙂
What a big beautiful cat!
