Hi everyone,
The Guinness World Records kindly gave us permission to repost some of their cat world records as part of their 2016 book which is available in stores!
Today we are looking at the Loudest purr by a domestic cat:
The loudest purr by a domestic cat is 67.8 db(A) and was achieved by Merlin, owned by Tracy Westwood (UK), at her home in Torquay, Devon, UK, on 2 April 2015.
Merlin is 13 years old.
All photo and video credit go to the Guinness World Records.
How loud does your cat purr? Can they beat Merlin!
Thanks,
Marc
Ha! Probably not, but my younger one IS pretty obnoxious on a daily basis!

If the truth were told, no cat was ever “owned” by a mere human. It works the other way around. Perhaps Merlin would perform on next seasons BGT? This introvert is grateful that her three feline masters are rather on the quiet side with Colette, the boss, quietest of all. However, if looks could kill, she certailny lets everyone know if she is not pleased… Simone and Balzac are very laid back.
Very true! But non cat people don’t get why it’s them owning us. 😉
Alas, they are deprived of feline companionship and haven’t a clue… 😉 ??
You would never feel alone in your house with a purr like that.
Haha yeah
