The Finding of a Therapy Cat: a series about Tinkerbelle, Registered Pet Partner Therapy Cat (retired) and our journey together.
By Mollie Hunt
Part 24: I wrote a book!
In 2013, I fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams of becoming a published author. When I had published book 2 of my series, the Crazy Cat Lady cozy mysteries featuring a sixty-something cat shelter volunteer who finds more trouble than a cat in catnip, I knew it was time to celebrate. A local independent bookstore offered me an opportunity to give a reading, and guess who I brought along with me! Tinkerbelle!
I’m not sure how many people listened to me read from my books, but everybody paid attention to Tinkerbelle. She sat on the big chair with me, helping to quiet my stage fright. Thanks in great part to Tinkerbelle, the event was a success.
Though other of my cats had parts in my books, I didn’t add Tinkerbelle’s character until book 3, Cat’s Paw. She got to play herself, and her therapy visits became part of the story. Without giving anything away, I will tell you that Tinkerbelle played a very important part…

About Mollie Hunt:
Mollie is the author of the Crazy Cat Lady cozy mystery series, featuring Lynley Cannon, a sixty-something cat shelter volunteer who finds more trouble than a cat in catnip. Mollie is a member of the Oregon Writers’ Colony, Sisters in Crime, Willamette Writers, the Cat Writers’ Association, and the Northwest Independent Writers Association. Two of her short cat stories have been published in anthologies, one of which, The Dream Spinner, won the prestigious CWA Muse Medallion this year.
Like Lynley, Mollie is a grateful shelter volunteer. She is a longtime volunteer for the Oregon Humane Society where she socializes sad, fearful, and behavior-challenged cats. She also fosters sick and elderly cats in her home. In 2014, she had the privilege to work with cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy on a particularly thought-provoking case.
