2018 ‘Kittenhood’ photography competition winning image – photographed by Claire Mowforth from the UK
‘We started fostering kittens for the Blue Cross back in 2014, and have had an almost constant flow of cats and kittens ever since! I often photograph the kittens for the Blue Cross to then use on their facebook page or website, to assist with their adoptions.
The kitten in this photo is Nancy, she was 6 weeks old at the time it was taken. Nancy unfortunately had to have one of her back legs amputated as a newborn, as the umbilical cord got caught around it during birth. She recovered very well from the operation however, and came to stay with us when she was around 3 weeks old. She was a really fun kitten; very confident and playful, making photographing her a challenge! Plus being one of the few ginger female cats around made her even more special!
She was re-homed once she was old enough, to a new family, where she settled in well and was renamed Pepper McPickles.’
Claire’s winning image features in the 2019 Kittenhood Calendar which is on sale to raise funds for International Cat Care’s welfare work.
