Have you ever considered how much the world’s most affluent animals really earn? Well now you can compare yourself against the pets of the net, the four-legged millionaires that are worth more than some of the most iconic designer fashion pieces.
Created by pet food brand Webbox in celebration of International Cat Day, Pets of the Net allows you to find out how much your salary compares with that of an instagram-famous cat with shocking (and somewhat depressing) results.
Using the UK average salary of £27,600 per year, it would take Grumpy Cat just 25 hours, 54 minutes and 16 seconds to earn the average salary! Known for her permanently peeved facial expression, Grumpy Cat earns an estimated £25,570.78 in a DAY, compared to £75.62 per day based on the UK average salary.
Karl Lagerfeld’s pampered feline earns a staggering £2,800,000 A YEAR and would be able to afford to buy a 70,000kgs of catnip every year! That’s one happy cat.
And finally, the legendary keyboard player… Keyboard Cat (real name Fatso). Sadly now deceased, experts have estimated that should Fatso have been alive in the modern age of social media, she would have earned an eye-watering £70,000,000 in her lifetime.
Jennifer Dean, NPD Technologist, from Webbox said: “With the rise of influencers online with the likes of Zoella and the SacconeJolys, it’s no surprise that our furry friends are barking at the chance of getting involved with the online world.
“We created Pets of the Net to see how our salaries compare to other famous pets, and to see how many bouncy tennis balls we could buy compared to how many our favourite pets could buy!”
Other pets included in Pets of the Net are Gigoo the chicken, Doug the Pug and JiffPom.

Wow. That is just astounding! GO Grumpy!
Yep that figure almost gave me an heart attack!
I wrote a piece about famous chickens for my website not too long ago, but I hadn’t heard of Gigoo. I will have to look her (?) up. 🙂
I didn’t even realise there were famous chicken until I got this fun post!
My Persian kitty brothers are slackers! We run in the negative numbers, though I still think I’ll keep them.
? I’m afraid even our four don’t earn those figures. Tho they certainly are doing a good job at contributing towards their upkeep. ?
Andy and Dougy earn their keep in giving me lots of material for blog updates and plenty of kitty loving, but very little income.
? Well at least they provide plenty of cute photos no? And I’m assuming you are using WordPress ads? I found it shocking how little they passed on of that to blog owners. 😐
Yes, I am using WordPress ads, and if I pay them $999 over ten years for the business level service, I can hope to accumulate at least $350-$390 in ad fees to help pay the $999, at the rate I’m going.
Yeah, I am glad for the cute photos, if no other reason than I know there will be a day when I will miss them because they died. I don’t like to think about that, of course, but I know how distaught I’ve been in past whern pets passed.
That’s amazing!
Thanks ^^
Oh the pleasure on Grumpy Cat must be excruciating. Makes sense. Cheers,H
Ha indeed! Could you imagine to have that much money coming in?!?
Not sure how to feel about this. Kind of curious as to how these animals end up making so much money. Is it only from social media?
Social media, books, YouTube, film spin offs in some cases. Merchandise! It is a little bizarre to me at times too. 😉
