Hi everyone,
It’s me Nubia here today to talk about my brothers! See neither one of them knows when to stop eating out of a bowl… if there is food in a bowl they will simply continue to eat, eat and EAT… And worst of all Rennie sometimes eats so much that it when comes back out the wrong way!!!!
This is exactly where the Doc and Phoebe’s Indoor Hunting Feeder comes in handy!!! Some of you may have seen the cartoon last month in which I rescued Rennie from becoming a fat sluggish and depressed cat! 😀
While the cartoon entertained quite a few of you it’s much much more important than some of you might have realised!
To quote Cat Behaviourist Anita Kelsey:

So how have my brothers done with adjusting to the mice?
Nubia: Well… Oliver being who he is was of course incredibly suspicious at first!
Oliver: WHAT! I was not… speak for yourself. 🙁 And why exactly do you get to rest on the green sheepskin while lecturing your siblings about their food habbits?!?
Nubia: That’s because I am your queen after all… let me finish… So as I was saying he was suspicious at first but that’s why you need to give your feline friends time to transition to get all of their food through the feeders!
Nubia: Renegade on the other hand the grandest of gourmands… he didn’t need much training at all!
Renegade: Wooohooo I found another mouse to KILL and give me FOOD! <3
Nubia: Like I said he isn’t even paying attention to me! 😮 But as you can see it’s got the desired effect on my brother! Instead of eating out of the same bowl every day he gets to hunt down the mice that I (my humans) hide around the house and thus making it much more engaging and interactive for us all to find our food. 🙂

That looks really ingenious! What stops it from tipping out the entire contents all at once, though?
Ah well that could happen but the kibbles we use in it are big enough to make it more difficult. 😉
As we tend to hide them around the house part of the fun is for them to actually locate them. ;o
Hmmm… our lot can locate food anywhere in the house in about five seconds!

My two cats will only eat 1 flavour of one type of cat food.. consternation when the local supermarket stopped supplying it ! Luckily found somewhere that does !
Oh no! We had that once with our kitties favourite flavour. Luckily we swapped them over to Almo Nature which we can purchase easily. 🙂
It seems that local supermarkets are reducing their ranges, hopefully the pet food store will have it in!

I can’t use slow feaders like this, because my cats only get wet food (and I don’t relish the idea of having the meat goop everywhere ?) They do, however, have to work for their treats (they get a few pieces of grain-free kibble or some dried meat).They either have to chase after a piece of kibble I throw, get it out of a brain excercise board or open a box I put the treat in. It’s amazing how much more content they are, after they’ve “won” their treats. =)
Rennie is hilarious with treats. He’ll literally jump from one end of the living room to the other to get to it first. ?
