2017 ‘Street Cats’ photography competition winning image – photographed by Seyed Mohammad Fallah Firouzkouhi
“I took this photograph while on holiday in north Iran, in a city called Bandar e Anzali which is the biggest port in north Iran. I went out at 5am with two photographer friends to photograph the city and the lagoon of Anzali and on our way back we saw fishermen feeding cats with fresh sea fish. This particular cat was sitting under the shadow of the lighthouse wall so I took my opportunity to get close to it and take the shot.”
The judges loved the blue background, the balanced composition and the lovely shape of the cat.
Mohammad’s winning image features in the 2018 Street Cats Calendar which will be sold to raise funds for International Cat Care’s cat welfare work.

What a great photo! I love that street cats, although they can be a problem, are shown in such a lovely light! Thanks Sean
