Here is a kitty of hope and optimism who lives in a drainage ditch. She has hope for a kind meal, and optimism that the feral Friday Art Cats of the world are finding shelter and safety.
I saw this cat living at a gas station. She was dainty and elusive. I would have scooped her up and taken her home if she would have let me get close enough. I was so moved that I wrote about our meeting.
Here’s an excerpt from my original post Life in a Culvert:
“When I encounter stray cats like this sweet, little black kitty, I feel sadness and shame. Sadness because I can tell she’s not getting the health care she needs, or the best nutrition, or shelter from the heat or rain. As far as I know, she’s the only kitty who lives in this culvert, at this gas station, in this wealthy, gated neighborhood area in San Antonio, Texas. Shame because my cats live the feline equivalent life of the 1%….”
