Hi everyone,
We once again have an amazing rescue story from our friends at the mayhew charity for you!
Starving Kitten Found Abandoned on the Streets
A tiny starving kitten, who was found abandoned on the streets all by himself, has now found his happily ever after.
The five-week-old brave, tabby kitten, named Simba by Mayhew staff, was discovered by a member of the public after they spotted the cute feline roaming the streets in Wembley, North West London.
Mayhew’s Animal Welfare Officer, AJ Ford, said: “Luckily we had been in the Wembley area, when the member of public spotted our animal ambulance and immediately came over and told us they had found a kitten wandering the streets.”
“We don’t know how long poor Simba had been on the streets fending for himself, but he was extremely hungry. We immediately fed him in the ambulance and he quickly lapped it all up. He was so friendly and tame.”
“At Mayhew we are dedicated to helping people in crisis situations. We are here to assist and advice on the best course of action for the animal, no matter what the problem is.”
Our Animal Welfare Officers immediately took Simba back to Mayhew, so our Vet Team could check him over and make sure he was in good health.
After being de-wormed and de-fleaed, Simba was put on foster care with one of our experienced foster carers and was soon growing in confidence and showing off his playful and affectionate character.
AJ added: “We are in the midst of kitten season and bringing in more and more unwanted kittens every day. Simba’s story highlights how important it is to get your pet neutered. At Mayhew we offer low cost and affordable neutering for cats and dogs at our Vet Clinic. We offer free neutering for bull breed dogs and for cats under the C4 scheme.”
“We also run a Pick and Snip initiative, which offers free neutering for cats and kittens for some owners who have been unable to neuter their cat or kitten due to cost, disability, apathy or transport availability.”
As soon as Simba was vaccinated and neutered, he was ready for adoption and quickly found a new forever home, along with another Mayhew cat called Lady Bella who was discovered in a bin by bin men after they noticed the bag moving.
Our Animal Welfare Officers are bringing in more and more furry felines every day and we urgently need more kitten food. Please help by either buying wet kitten food from our Amazon Wishlist – https://www.amazon.co.uk/registry/wishlist/HM48FAT7VDW2 – or drop off any that you have spare. Anything you could donate will help us to continue to care for these kittens throughout kitten season.

Thank you, Mayhew! Thank you, adopters!
🙂 glad we shared their story
Looks just like Cassie, who recently joined our menagerie.
How many have you got now? 😮
Only five, to add to the five dogs.
Only? ? How do you keep them all peaceful with each other? 😮
They have grown up accustomed to this scene!
Haha. I’m hoping our three will get fully accustomed to the fact it’s now three. Tho we are getting there slowly. 🙂
Factions are formed from time to time, but they get over it.
That’s the interesting thing with three. Our new boy seems to swap allegiances between the other two at times. ? but at night all three sleep curled up on the bed with us. 🙂
That is when truces are forged!
Haha indeed. Today Nubia was playing quite friendly with both. So I think we are finally seeing things settle down. 🙂
Many thanks to rescuers.
Indeed! Thanks on their behalf. 🙂
These were the lucky ones. There are so many unlucky cats out there.
That is true as well. 🙁
Simba is so cute with his big feet and that sweet face. So glad he found a home with Lady Bella. ????
🙂
lucky kitten. a happy story
Indeed. If only we could rescue all cats out there 🙁
It’s so unfair stray kittens and cats, unwanted pets just dumped, do these people not realize animals have feelings. It’s great the work charities do and everyone who cares and helps but how many little lost souls are still out there on their own crying out for help.?
Awwwwhhhhh,,, he is adorable! Cheers,H
🙂
We have always given rescue cats a Forever Home …and have had some lovely furry friends.
Both Oliver and Nubia came from a local shelter and turned out to be the best friends a human can have. 🙂
Me happy Simba is now comfy and safe in a new home <3
Ciao
Sid
