Hi everyone,
Today we would like to tell you about a fun Feline themed Gallery coming up which opens today for a private event and will be open until the 24th of September to the public!
Best of all part of the money raised at the event will go to our friends over at International Cat Care. 🙂
THE HIDDEN PAW
4th – 24th September 2016
The Fosse Gallery has invited nine artists to paint around the theme of ‘The Hidden Paw’ , the favourite children’s poem by T S Eliot, ‘Macavity, the Mystery Cat’. The nine artists chosen to exhibit are Nicola Slattery, Lydia Corbett, Mick Rooney RA, Jane Ford, Pamela Kay, Alex Williams, Lucy Pratt, George Underwood and Anthony Yates – all well-known artists to the gallery. This exhibition, held from 4th – 24th September at The Fosse Gallery, The Manor House, The Square, Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire, offers a feast for the eyes and a window into what inspires these remarkable artists.
None of the artists are known as feline artists and this is an exciting way for them to express their imagination, humour and freedom for the subject. There will be lots of cats, domestic and wild, as well as other-worldly and there may even be paws belonging to other creatures such as hares and dogs. This will be a very varied show with each artist bringing their own depiction of the subject in oils, watercolour and acrylic. Prices range from £500 to £6,000.
10% of the profits from the sales will go to International Cat Care.
Opening hours are Monday – Saturday, 10.30am – 5.00pm.
If you are going let us know as we might be able to meet up at the Gallery?!?
Thanks,
Marc
Fabulous pictures and all in a great cause! Or should that be claws!!!
Macavity was part of my early education in literature. In years 5 and 6 I had a teacher who included T S Eliot’s cat poems in our weekly poetry list. We also read Growltiger’s Last Stand, and Skimbleshanks as well as others that elude my memory at the moment. A wonderful literary heritage.
I wish we had covered that kind of literature in school!
What a great idea!
🙂
beautiful artwork. thx for posting. =^:^=
Glad you liked it. 😀
Too bad I’m not closer! The images are magic.
Ah even for us it’s a bit of a stretch and we are only 4 hours away 😮
Even for those of us much farther away it was nice to see the work. What a lovely idea for a fundraiser.
Thank you ^^ glad you liked the work. 🙂
And unfortunately even we couldn’t make it there as we there away until today and have got too many things on this coming few weekends. 😡
I wish I was back in Gloucestershire this month and could see the exhibition too, but a bit like Macavity I won’t be there. Good luck!
🙂 it looks like it was a great exhibition .
