Hi everyone,
Today’s Purrsday Poetry post comes from Eleanor Farjeon.
Cats
Cats sleep, anywhere,
Any table, any chair
Top of piano, window-ledge,
In the middle, on the edge,
Open drawer, empty shoe,
Anybody’s lap will do,
Fitted in a cardboard box,
In the cupboard, with your frocks-
Anywhere! They don’t care!
Cats sleep anywhere.

Love the poem and the photo is gorgeous, but the author of the poem does not have a blog … Eleanor Farjeon died in 1965. This poem was also published in a book with the wonderful cat paintings of Anne Mortimer!
Oh, thanks for telling me about the author. I thought it was the original blogger who wrote it. many thanks 🙂
:0! That i didn’t realise haha
Thank you. 🙂
Love it, it’s so true. MM never slept in her cat bed, we’d bought her. Preferring, initially, behind the microwave, then small cardboard box (with paper towel mattress, most important), then following her ‘surgery’ an armchair, finally she laid claim to spare bed (and bedroom). If it was chilly she like on top of the tropical aquarium (heated), colder then it would be the floor of the airing cupboard (which meant we could never fully shut the door, in case she was hidden away in there), or over the hot water pipes that ran under the landing floor! Really cold and she’d snuggle up against you, in such a way you couldn’t easily move.
The sleeping locations our feline friends pick are just amazing LOL
It’s not often I see a poem by Eleanor Farjeon. What a gorgeous cat.
Thank you! I always welcome guest posts from fellow cat lovers and her poem was beautiful. And so is the cat haha
The poem describes the cat in this photo perfectly.
Thanks ^^

Sure is fluffy 🙂 ?????
Great to see Eleanor Farjeon featured here as both cat lover and gifted writer. She also wrote “Morning Has Broken” which was a hit for Cat Stevens (the first name is coincidental) in the 1970s. She was a close friend of the poet Edward Thomas who was killed in 1917 – one of the many poets lost in WW1.
I love it. My sweet Lia climbs on me in the mornings with the sweetest purrs….. Luv it!
Lol love the poem. My cat definitely does sleep anywhere and everywhere
Same as our two 😀 and if you ever fancy doing a guest post about yours let us know. 🙂
Definitely! =]
Nice, nice, nice!
Thanks 😀
