Hi everyone,
As some of you may know I recently went on a work trip to Scotland using a rather toy like plane haha. Little did I know that there was a cat cafe in Edinburgh! Luckily someone I met there pointed this out to me so of course I couldn’t resist and after a long day of work (got up at 5 am =_=) I decided to make a “brief” stop at the cafe on my way to the hotel!
Upon arrival you can tell that the owner (Laura O’Neill) has done her research well and it really feels like you are walking into a cat cafe in the heart of Japan!
The walkways were amazing and it really made me want to be one of the cats there haha!
The walkways went all around the place giving their cats loads of freedom and space to play with. 😀
And just for the hell of it I took a picture from “cats perspective”- yep I was lying on the floor for this shot hehe.
Of course cats WERE in the cafe I just ended up taking loads of photos of the purrtastic design. 😀 Meet Jacques a beautiful Norwegian Forest cat!
He really liked climbing through the holes in the walkways. Since he is so big it made quite a “oomph” when he jumped down. ;o
Of course being a cafe you can enjoy a cuppy and a slize of cake that’s if you can get past the cute cat guardian to grab the menu! This is a Maine Coon and her name is Pauline. She is still a youngster btw and will probably be bigger than jacques!
Prices at the cafe were very reasonable and I shall have to be back to sample their cakes! “Unfortunately” I was completly stuffed from cake and cookies from all my work visits haha.
And last photo for todays post is a picture of Laura who started this cafe and Guillaume a beautiful and very regal cat!
If you are going to Edinburgh I would highly recommend taking the time to spend an hour to relax and recover in Maison de Moggy who are located not too far from Waverly or Haymarket station. The address is 17 – 19 West Port, Edinburgh EH1 2JA
To find out more about Maison de Moggy visit their website or Facebook page. Already made up your mind? You can book a slot here!
I’ll be back soon to show you all of their various cats! 🙂
Thanks,
Marc
Now that is a cat café I MIGHT visit one day, as Scotland is still on my to-do-list. Japan OTOH is a little far away.
It’s well worth a visit! Both Edinburgh and the cafe. Speaking of nearby cat cafes though… Have you heard that there is one opening in Hannover??? 😮
But in Hannover I have cats already!
Haha! That is true. 😀
Amazing… What a great cafe…
Thanks 😀
Wish it had been there when I stayed in Edinburgh.
Ah! Well it’s always a good excuse to revisit Edinburgh. 😉
the cat’s meow in European cat cafés! 😉
Haha ^^ I have taken so many photos in this one. I may need to feature a cat per post lol
the purrfect idea! 🙂
And they were all so cute 😀
oh yes indeed! they were purrfect for the job! 🙂
I especially liked the big white fluffy Norwegian forest cat. 🙂
me, too. don’t recall ever seeing one of those! 🙂
They look like a miniature lion! Reminded me of Narnia 😉
sweet Aslan! king of the beasts 🙂

This is absolutely fantastic! I hope they install similar gadgetry in Tampere (Finland)’s upcoming cat cafe. Purebred or moggy, all cats deserve to be spoiled xx
Now that is amazing! So much care, time and attention has gone into thus cafe!
I know! It’s such an amazing place and well worth a visit when going to Scotland. 🙂
Wow – this place looks amazing!
Thank you 🙂
Jacques is gorgeous! What a lovely place!
I know! I wanted to take him home haha
Awesome!
Thank you 🙂
Totally amazing, Marc. Like a little cat village.
I know! It felt like stepping the cat world of what a Lord of the rings hobbit village must feel like haha
haha…that was awesome. Something to think about for the royal siblings 😉
I know! They would love that haha 🙂
Haha! Time for the crew to start drawing up the plans… 😀
Ah if only! 🙂
Would be so cool! 🙂
One day haha
haha ^ ^
I’ll have to forward this to my friend in Scotland. I don’t know if she gets to Edinburgh but she’d love it if she did.
😀 it’s a brilliant afternoon / evening out. Especially after a long and busy work day haha

Awwww thank you so much. 🙂
I’m mesmerized by Jacques <3 Wish I could hug all of them!!
😀 he is too cute I know
Packing my bags!!? ?????
Just bear in mind they speak meow with a Scottish accent. 😉
MOL!? All the more reason to go! No creatures and male kats with A Scottish accent!! Yahoooooooo!!?
Haha. You’ll be delighted to hear that if creatures visit the cafe they have to be strictly kept under observation by an adult. 😉
PAWSOME!! ? I’m loving this place already!!
😀
This looks awesome. I wish we had places like this in the U.S.
They are coming :). You have a cat cafe in New York already. We posted about it a while ago. ^^ https://katzenworld.co.uk/2015/03/23/mews-meow-parlour-nycs-first-cat-cafe/
I would love to have these for my 6 cats..just seem like lots and lots of fun and I am to believe that the cats are never bored…how does one clean the areas…..thank you so very much for the photos…..
You are welcome. 🙂 as for the cleaning part that is a very good question. LOL
Whoa beautiful I’m in love
😀 it’s amazing isn’t it haha
That looks like loads of cat fun!
Indeed 😀
This is so cool! Now I want to be a cat cafe owner (except I’d rather it was a bar).
What a fabulous place with lots of thought towards keeping the cats happy. Would love to visit.
Thank you 🙂 it’s well worth it if you ever make it to Edinburgh. ^^
Shared your post with my Facebook friends 🙂
Thank you so much. 🙂
My friend just informed me that we do have a cat cafe in Melbourne! catcafemelbourne.com
I can’t wait to go there sometime!
Oh!!! If you go can you do a story for us? 😀
Will do! I will see if I can go in the next month or two (have to go when my four year old isn’t with me!). I think my Mum would love to go- it would be a great surprise for her. What sort of things would you like me to comment on in a writing piece? Would you like photos too, if I can get any good ones without a flash? (They don’t allow flash photography as far as I can work out from the terms and conditions of booking).
A story and photos would be great. :). I usually talk a bit about how they are set up. The cats. Food and drink on offer. How to get there and most importantly many photos of cats LOL 😀
There’s a waiting list for the Melbourne Cat Cafe, so I will let you know once I have a booking and when I expect to be going. Sounds like a fun post to write!
Oh wow! Yes ours here in London has a wait list too. I was lucky to get in to the one in Edinburgh.
And no flash is fine. People understand that with cat cafe photos 😉
Just checked- my friend was wrong- loads of bookings available! Now to pin my Mum down to a day and time 🙂
Haha xD hope you can go soon. 🙂
Great Interiors! Planning to have my own cat cafe someday!
Oh! If you do I’ll have to visit lol
I would like that! <3

It seems that Helsinki has beat Tampere to it…. D’oh!
Time to book a flight haha xD
I’m wondering why there aren’t such amazing places in America? Large metropolitan cities would surely be greatly benefited by them…
They are starting to pop up. 🙂 New York has one! We posted about it too. ^^ do put meow parlour in the search box. And rumour has it more are popping up across the US
That is just simply amazing!!
Thanks 😀
Oh My Gosh . . . this is amazing: I love cats and I love cafes, and, you’ve found the marriage of these two passions!! What a great post. Thanks for sharing! I need to take a trip to Scotland!
And, thanks for following Mocha Muse. I appreciate it and I’ll be back to explore more of your site!

Thank you ^^ glad you enjoyed this. 🙂 there will be many more posts about cat cafes haha. I’ve been to ones in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand. -!: you are welcome about the follow 🙂
Likely I will never get to visit Scotland, but if I do, for sure I’ll stop in this great place!
It’s a beautiful part of the UK! Not just for the cat cafe. :). I have many shots of the old city and castle if you need to be convinced to make a trip 😉 hehe
