Hi everyone,
Below is another rescue story from our friends over at CATS Protection. As you can imagine his Meowjesty Oliver was most displeased to hear that a fellow Oliver has been treated this poorly by someone. 🙁
A stray cat is recovering after he was found covered from head to tail in green paint with cuts and puncture wounds across his body.
The ginger-and-white puss, now named Oliver, was handed into Cats Protection’s Armagh Branch after being discovered in a rural area five miles from Portadown, in Northern Ireland.
Thought to be around three-years-old, Oliver’s fur was saturated with a green substance believed to be a spray paint.
After being taken to a vet, a number of puncture wounds and cuts – possibly inflicted using scissors – were found across his body.
Coordinator of Cats Protection’s Armagh Branch, Gillian McMullen, said Oliver is now recovering after being found cold, underweight and suffering from an upset stomach after ingesting the substance.
She said: “We have no idea what has happened to Oliver. It’s certainly possible that this was some kind of malicious attack.
“The paint looks like it’s from an aerosol so he may have been deliberately sprayed and had his fur hacked at with scissors. But the truth is we just don’t know what happened to him.
“All we know is he was found in quite a state – cold, covered in paint and very thin. He had been licking at his fur and ingested the paint which has led to a stomach upset.
“He has been on antibiotics to prevent the wounds becoming infected while they heal, and has been having regular baths.
“The worst of the paint has come off, but his fur is still a minty green colour. This should fade and will eventually disappear as new fur grows through.
“The area where he was found was very rural, with not many people around so he is lucky to have stumbled across the home of an animal lover who kept him warm overnight and then took him to a vet.”
Cats Protection is keen to emphasise that cats should never have their fur coloured, either by paint or dye as this can be very harmful.
Oliver will be looking for a new home once he has fully recovered from his ordeal and has been neutered.
Gillian added: “Oliver was very thin, and unneutered, so it’s likely he had been a stray for some time.
“Despite everything he has been through he is a lovely, gentle and friendly cat. He is very affectionate and will make a wonderful pet.”

I love cats of his colour. 🙂
I hope Oliver finds a good adoptive home, poor little fellow.
Me too!
Poor Oliver. What is wrong with peopl? I’m sure Oliver will find a wonderful home with someone who really values his ginger perfection!
I know… Fingers crossed he will find a home soon. 🙂
Thank Goodness that Oliver was rescued! I hope he finds a happy furever home soon!
Thank you ^^
This breaks our hearts…*whipes tears away* Unbelievable how cruel people can be 🙁 We purray for the poor guy and hope that he finds a furrever home with humans who love him for always. He deserves the best! Extra Pawkisses for good luck 🙂 <3 <3 <3
Indeed! 🙁 and thank you. 🙂
He is such a beautiful boy and I’m so happy someone found him in time – many thanks to that person and the great charities that do such wonderful work. He deserves an amazing life from now on! 🙂
Thank you ^^
This is yet another one of those instances where it’s hard to hold in the mental rage at people who need to experience what they’ve done to a kind little heart. I’m thankful for people who can move past that rage and show so much love, even when their hearts are hurting over such abuse.
Totally agree! And so glad we have charities like Cats Protection. 🙂
“Despite everything he has been through he is a lovely, gentle and friendly cat. He is very affectionate and will make a wonderful pet.”- another example of why I believe animals are angels sent to the world to teach us unconditional love. I’m so glad he came into the care of loving people like he did. May be proof to him we can still be rescued too 🙂
Thank you ^^
What a sweet little face. I have a special place in my heart for ginger and white boys. Like everyone else here probably, I want to erase whom-ever did this from the planet.
Oh yes… I was thinking the same. Just glad he got rescued! 🙂
I fear for a world where such barbaric individuals thrive..bless his heart i hope he has a long and loved life.. more than i wish on the bottom feeder who inflicted this on him…makes my blood boil..
Yep 🙁 and thank you <3
He looks like my Sammy!
😀
Poor little fellow. I hope those bullies have a change of heart before the next kitty comes down the road.
Hopefully someone catches them out. 🙁
I would like to spray paint the ass that did this. Sorry. It makes me so angry.
Glad he looks to be on the mend and gets a loving forever home soon.
You are not alone in this. I think we all felt angry about this story. I know it’s not one of my happy cheerfully stories but had to be told. 😡
I just couldn’t read the whole story. But I can’t understand how humans could do something like that to a cat. It is horrible.
Thank you! And yes sorry not one of my usual happy stories. <3
That’s alright Marc. You have to show the reality too. So most people would understand what some humans do to a pet.
Hopefully by showing this to people we all will keep an eye out for the vulnerable.
Where can I get a GREEN cat? I love the way he looks. As long as the paint is not toxic, he is fine and gorgeous in my opinion!
His posture and his looks show he had ro endure hardness of someone
Yep 🙁
Love you, Oliver…. You’re finding loving home…. ?
<3
Sometimes, people can be brain numbing dumb. I’m glad Oliver was rescued. Thanks for sharing, Marc 🙂
You are welcome ^^. And yes very sad what people can come up with 😡
I’m happy for Oliver ^ ^
Poor little pussy cat. I hope he finds a very loving home when he is ready. Xxx
Yep. Me too <3
Humans really do disgust me!
Luckily not all of us are bad! He was rescued by the right people. 🙂
These types of stories, even worse ones, make me cry and break my heart. I am consoled only by the fact that we hear about them because someone rescued their poor soul, and hopefully, most are on their way to recovery, and if they aren’t, they experience love in their last few days on earth.
I know what you mean. 🙁 at the same time it’s important we share these stories so that us good hearted people watch out for suspicious activities and Animals in need of rescue <3
So hate to see animals mistreated. We hope Oliver finds a good home soon. Ellie, Bo, and Kobi
Me too 🙁
Oh Oliver, I feel for you buddy.
Thank you! 🙂
That poor kitty. I am adding him to my prayer list. I am glad someone rescued hoim and I hope he gets a happy forever home.
He is in the best hands now. 🙂 Cats Protection is our local charity and they are pawesome ^^
Some people are just sick! This lil Oliver touches my heart even more as he looks so much like Sonu Singh! I hope he finds a good home soon.
Thank you! And yes I hope he finds a forever home soon. 🙂
What an adorable kitty! I guess it just goes to show that all the malicious people aren’t living in the cities. I think that when Oliver is fully recovered and adopted, he should find his tormentor and hack a furball on him. Or two.
Agreed!
Some pretty horrible things happen to these babies. The cat was one of the lucky ones. So glad he was saved!
Me too <3
Shocking. What makes people so cruel, I wonder. Thank goodness for Cats Protection – they do great work, but must see some extremely upsetting things.
Oh yes they do see some awful things. 🙁 there is stuff I just can’t post as it’s just so bad that I may push up the age rating of the blog *sigh*. I wish those people would be caught out and locked up 😡
Do you have any updates on Oliver ? Did he find a home?
Oh! I’ll ask cats protection and see if they can share any afterwards story with us. 🙂
